DESCRIPTION:This is a single day course for youth members of Scouts Australia who are assisting the Section Leaders responsible for leading either Joey Scouts\, Cub Scouts\, or Scouts. SUMMARY:Advanced Pioneering Skills Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Is it possible to bridge the Roonka Billabong?!?!?This is a hands-on pioneering skills weekend at the Roonka Water Activities Centre aimed at both interested leaders and senior youth.Â  The goals of the weekend include constructing various mega-structures while learning from each other under the guidance of QLD Branch Leader of Pioneering\, Danny Atkins.Youth Members will be supported and mentored across OAS Pioneering skills with in Stages 6 – 7 Weekend ProgramÂ·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Friday Night: Arrivals (nominally from 6:00pm\, no formal program) Â Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Saturday Morning: Raft building\, with some pre-lunch fun of raft races and raft tug-o-warÂ·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Saturday Afternoon: Expansion of rafts to bridge pylons\, Anchors and Pulley skills with the goal to ultimately bridge the Roonka BillabongÂ·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Saturday Night: Eccentric designs and Whirligig funÂ·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Saturday Night: Pioneering in Scouts SA chat (Skills\, Safety and Community Development)Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Sunday Early: 10 minute towersÂ·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Sunday: Expansion of Tower Designs.Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Finish: 2:00pmParticpant RequirementsYouth members should be proficient at Pioneering with OAS Stage 5 and prepared for physical effort of pioneering activities across the weekend\, ideally 14+Adults should be reasonably comfortable with basic Pionnering from Scouting Adventure\, and looking to build further skills – again being up to the physical effort of pioneering activities across the weekend.Key Information:Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Catering from Friday supper through to Sunday lunch is providedÂ·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Bring all personal and camping equipment for unpowered camping – with access to the K1 KitchenÂ·Â Â Â Â Â Â  We are looking for adults to help source and bring pioneering supplies (i.e. trailer load of pioneering poles and ropes) – $50 cost offset is available in leui of fuel contributionÂ·Â Â Â Â Â Â  Where a group has Youth Members attending\, to make the activity viable it is also desired that they come with an adult leader bringing pioneering supplies as mentioned in the above pointDates: Fri 16 June 6:00pm (or later) to Sun 18 Jun 2:00pmLocation: Roonka Water Activities CentreCost: $70 (including catering)Course Coordinator: Jarrod Sharp\, email 221107@sa.scouts.com.au
